Drum Corp International -

Modern junior drum and bugle corps (“drum corps” for short) are independent youth organizations made up of up to 135 14- to 22-year-olds who spend the summer rehearsing and performing an 11-minute show in which they play a variety of horns or percussion instruments, or spin flags, rifles, sabres, and other implements, all while marching around a football field.

The Internet Archive is working to prevent the Internet - a new medium with major historical significance - and other "born-digital" materials from disappearing into the past. Collaborating with institutions including the Library of Congress and the Smithsonian, we are working to preserve a record for generations to come.

The Internet Archive is opening its collections to researchers, historians, and scholars. The Archive has no vested interest in the discoveries of the users of its collections, nor is it a grant-making organization.

At present, the size of our Web collection is such that using it requires programming skills. However, we are hopeful about the development of tools and methods that will give the general public easy and meaningful access to our collective history. The Internet Movie Database (IMDb), and an Amazon owned company, is a HUGE collection of movie information where you can preview trailers, too, of up coming movies. The site catalogs every pertinent detail about a movie where possible, from who was in it, to who made it, to trivia about it, to filming locations, and even where you can find reviews and fan sites on the web. They then do their best to present this information in a manner that is easy to search and access. The IMDb started as a hobby project by an international group of movie fans, essentially something by movie fans for movie fans. And despite its incredible growth, it retains that sensibility. The weekly editorial staff meeting is lunch and a movie. All the weekly status reports detail three things: what we did for work, what we did for fun, and what movies we saw.
