Where has my America gone?

Response to CBS2 News Article, "Jackson: Bush Actions 'Crime Against Constitution' "

To CBS2 News (Web site):

Your Web readers may be interested in a posting on Anchoress.com, which comments on an article by Mark Steyn, "Diagnosing Death through Demographics"

The writer observed . . .

“This article also addresses the inability and disinterest of secularist cultures (not, mind you secular governments, but the culture of the secular elite) to fight to keep what they have: In a recent op-ed piece in the Brussels newspaper De Standaard (23 October) the Dutch (gay and self-declared ‘humanist’) author Oscar Van den Boogaard refers to Broder’s interview. Van den Boogaard says that to him coping with the islamization of Europe is like ‘a process of mourning.’ He is overwhelmed by a ‘feeling of sadness.’

‘I am not a warrior,’ he says, ‘but who is? I have never learned to fight for my freedom. I was only good at enjoying it.’ ”

And so goes today’s American elitists, the ones who have choked this country for the last forty years as they undo woven threads, one at a time, threads that took common folk hundreds of years of spirit and sacrifice to weave.  They say once you strip off the meaning of each red stripe and the blue borders around the stars on our flag, all you have remaining is a white cloth waving in the wind.

Who are these people . . . these elitists?  Their names have been around so long they must remind other Americans of the taste of stale bread . . . the Rev. Jesse Jackson, the Rev. Al Sharpton, Hillary and Bill Clinton, John Kerry (Mr. Jane Fonda per American Vietnamese, thank you), Ted Kennedy, Jane Fonda, and a list that goes on and on.  They have had a devastating effect on America, sucking new life out of this country as they continue to give the same old answers decade after decade to problems that continue to go unsolved.  They play king of the hill to keep everyone else off who might have a better idea.

For instance, Ted Kennedy is reported to have said in 1965, “This bill will not flood our cities with immigrants.  It will not upset the ethnic mix of our society.  It will not relax the standards of admission."

Then in 1986, Kennedy said, “This amnesty will give citizenship to only 1.1 to 1.3 million aliens.  We will secure the border henceforth.  We will never again bring forward another amnesty bill like this.”

Then this year, twenty one years later, Kennedy said, “Now it is time for action, 2007 is the year we must fix our broken system.”

We are talking about a period of 42 years of the same diatribe from the same human being brought to the American Congress by basically the same voters of Massachusetts.  What does that say about the importance of a democracy to run a government of the people, by the people, for the people?

Do you now get it?

Do you now understand why this country is becoming a failed enterprise simply because its citizens no longer demand better quality and spirit from their leaders?  Their leaders, like that stale bread, continue on and on, arrogant as if no one else could replace them.

This is the sign of the times of what the above Brussels playwright was warning us about . . . a sign that we no longer live in a healthy western society.  How can the same people run this great country, once as hippies screaming at the failure of the establishment, now themselves the establishment yet still angry as if it was never their fault.

Jesse Jackson hasn't had a new idea since sliced bread and Hillary’s comments remind us more of the old ideas of Lenin than the new ones of Abe Lincoln.   Must we be reminded she supported the Black Panthers and followed an anti-American socialist as a student at Texas Wesleyan University?  The same Black Panthers who scalded their victim before killing him. One went on to Haaaaarvard while the other made a path as an executive to California’s educational system, a west coast state that last year tried to remove the words “man and woman” from public school textbooks as offensive.

So whose political pot do you think these former Black Panthers are pissing in today?

Kennedy and Kerry keep coming back like a backed-up toilet plunged by the same wealthy northeastern liberals, repeating the words of the playwright, “We had been enjoying our freedom yet never had to fight for it” . . . warriors from the tongue but not from the heart.

I thought about all of this today while I read the comments on CBS 2’s Web site of Hillary Clinton, Jesse Jackson, and others spouting wondrous words about their anger over the pardon of Scooter Libby.

Let’s review some facts because I am a simple man.

Three years ago headlines were driven by slimy, spoon-fed media journalists who fished all over Carl Rove’s home lawn, believing it was the White House that had given out the name of a CIA operative, Valerie Plame.  The press said it was the administration’s way of getting even for a failed link from Saddam to Yellow Gold in Africa.

But Americans recently discovered that these sharks of the mainstream media were no different from the “Band of 88” who recently condemned the Duke “white boys” of raping an African American street walker, an act that could never be proven as 88 aloof PhD buffoons went ahead anyway and placed wanted posters on campus.

The truth came out that it was not the White House staff that had done the evil deed of disclosing Plame's name, but a friend of Plame's own husband and a buddy of the media, Former Deputy Secretary of State Richard Armitage.  It was Armitage who had sprung the leak to Robert Novak, a columnist who put forth the news in 2003 and drove the swarm of media fish into a feeding frenzy.

It was reported that special counsel in the CIA leak investigation, Patrick Fitzgerald, had known the truth all along but continued going after staff members of the White House anyway, hoping he could at least hook something to push along his career.  In the end, he was to the White House what Nifong was to the Duke Lacrosse players.  Yet there would be no lawsuit against a lying far-left media or a pariah named Fitzgerald.

A far-left press that had only smelled White House bait, suddenly walked away from the story when it realized it was one of their own species who had spilled the beans.  Suddenly, it was as if the bait ship had pulled anchor, steamed away, and left with an empty cargo bay.

The media never went onto Armitage's lawn, as they had with Rove demanding an answer.  It was as if they were disappointed that their view of the truth had turned into a fictional piece of dung.

So why am I angry?

It’s because I am a common man with a common college education, now retired to North Carolina with a son having served in Afghanistan.  You see, I just don’t understand all this backstabbing as our nation’s security and well being goes into a tailspin.

I raised four children. I am the grandchild of an immigrant from Sweden who came legally to this country in the early 1920’s.  He worked on an Midwestern American railroad for three years while living with relatives, putting aside enough money to bring his wife and three boys in steerage over to Ellis Island. After all his hard work, he then had to worry that the family might be sent back to Sweden because one of the boys had a broken arm that could have been infected.

Let me tell you a little about him, one story out of millions who came to these shores looking for hope.  While he had an education in agriculture from his homeland, it was not recognized in the United States.  So he made his way up to the mansions of Westchester County, New York, working as an assistant caretaker in Mt. Kisco and Katonah -- the very place where millionaire Hillary now lives. My grandfather lived in servant’s quarters, and I was partially raised there until nine-years old.

In those early years, he lost one son to food poisoning in an elementary school and then another to polio before he could finish high school.  As my grandmother later watched over me when I was three-years old, I remember her tears as her third remaining son, my father, was reported to her as missing in WWII off Okinawa, but he was later found.  In the end, I would be her only grandchild.

So here I am, trying to understand why the Valerie Plame issue had anything to do with American justice, the same question Americans asked Nifong of his abuse of the law.  Our justice system seems corrupt and as useless as our hijacked media.  We read and hear too often of repeat pedophiles handed down probation, Planned Parenthood allowing raped 10-year-old children to have abortions without notifying the authorities, and teachers, who look like Paris Hilton, getting off easy after having sex with their students . . . judges seeing their sleek bodies and pretty legs as something of pleasure and not to be touched in a court of law.

As this Fourth of July comes around, the memory of this country’s original "Declaration of Arms," a document that is virtually not taught in public schools today, grows more distant regarding those who were the true American patriots.  The authors of this document and their ideas to form this country were so radical that our puffy Congress of today could only fear the return of their ideas.

What can you expect from a body of legislators whoi worship candidates such as Hillary Clinton, a former socialist who now announces that if she becomes president some Americans will have to sacrifice for the good of others.  Of course in any communist society, that means those who live at the top stay at the top, while others beneath them are thrown the scraps.

It is as it has been throughout human history, Plato warning coming generations 2,800 years ago that while some societies in a future time may celebrate an Independence Day, no successful democracy will ever survive, not even these.

As I watch the United States finally go down the slippery slope and fall into the black hole of Paganism and Relativism with less and less influence on the world as a new idea, it’s as if Plato said it would be.  History will prove again that a Phoenix can only rise out of ashes and not from the light of decaying cities sitting on a hill.

As I write this I watch one of my favorite movies, “The Spirit of St. Louis,” asking a simple question to all of you.  “Where has my America gone?”
