I NEED YOUR HELP, PLEASE

In a recent interview on PBS with Bill Moyers, the Rev. Jeremiah Wright, former pastor to Barrack Obama and his family, said, "That publicizing sound bites of sermons in which he condemned U.S. policies, was unfair and devious, and done by people who know nothing about his church."

The operative words in his statement are, "by people who know nothing about his church."

Reverend Wright, you are right (no pun intended), I know nothing about your church. Therefore, I am asking you to educate me. Tell me all you can about the Trinity United Church of Christ you Sheparded over the past decades. I am ready to listen. I will give you the benefit of the doubt, until the truth comes out. Here is what I am asking you to do. Tell me, How many families have left your congregation over the past ten or more years? More importantly, America and I want to know Why did they leave? We deserve the truth.

The media has not asked these questions, so I am asking them now.

Give me the names of the families that left your flock and I will ask them why. Then we can put this entire issue to rest for the last time. We can then get on with the business of electing a President on the issues instead of the rhetoric of your vile remarks. I heard what you said. Even if as you and Sen. Obama said they were short snippets of your sermons, you still said them. One can only imagine what you were thinking.

Therefore, I am asking you to reveal the names of those who have deserted your flock (with their permission of course) I will interview them confidentially and ascertain why they left. If they left because they did not want their children listening to your vile sermons about America, something the Obama's apparently did not worry about, let us hear the truth. If they left because they moved away or were just tired of attending services, I will understand. Let us put this whole thing to rest for the last time.

In your interview with Mr. Moyers you said, referring to Sen. Obama, "He's a politician, I'm a pastor. I do what I do. He does what politicians do." So do what you do best, as a Minister you should be searching for the truth, is not that what Jesus did.

However, the one thing I want to emphasize to you is we are trying to elect a president, the most powerful leader in the free world. This has nothing to do with race; America may be ready for a Black President. I just want to make sure it is the right Black American. Dr. King said, "Judge a man by the content of his character not the color of his skin." Show me your character and step forward.

The French philosopher Voltaire said, "Everyone is guilty of the good he does not do." If you are hiding something and do not step forward, you are as guilty as the person who committed the wrong.

To My Readers

I am asking for your help. I know as you do, that what I am asking of Rev. Wright will be ignored. Therefore, here is what I am asking you to do. Somewhere, there is someone, besides Oprah Winfrey who has left Rev. Wright's church; we have to locate him or her. I am sure if this letter is distributed everywhere it may reach someone who knows something or someone.

In addition, someone out there was present when William Ayers and Barrack Obama spoke together. What did they say? Does a video or transcript exist?

If you know anyone who may have or is a member of his church or was present when he spoke with William Ayers, I want to know who that person is.
