Common Sense Media is dedicated to improving the media and entertainment lives of kids and families. Media is fun and our kids love it. We also know that kids now spend so much time absorbing its messages and images that it has become "the other parent" in their lives. We started this organization because we know families need trustworthy information to help manage their kids' media lives. We're posting our beliefs here so that all our users can know the underlying principles that guide our philosophy and mission.

The Parents Television Council was founded in 1995 to ensure that children are not constantly assaulted by sex, violence and profanity on television and in other media. The Parent's Television Council is a national grassroots organization with nearly one-million members across the United States, and works with television producers, broadcasters, networks and sponsors in an effort to stem the flow of harmful and negative messages targeted to children. They are a nonpartisan organization that works with elected and appointed government officials to enforce broadcast decency standards.

Our competitions and games are designed for learners of English as a foreign or second language normally resident in a non English speaking country outside the United Kingdom. We ask those who speak English as their first language not to enter these competitions, and will not consider entries that we believe are from such individuals for prizes.
