If Democrats are going to be serious about a national health care plan, there needs to be some basic ground rules!
1. ALL, I repeat ALL, U.S. Senators and Congressmen and the president, (including all at the state and local levels), MUST participate in any national health care plan so they can directly experience problems and successes. By their positions to change policy, their being forced to use the system themselves will cause rapid fixes via their own pain and seeing errors in judgment. (Oh God, is that even possible?) To this end, Ted Kennedy had submitted a Bill to protect the career babies in Congress from having to use what he must see as a trailer-trash health program for the people, his being too good to participate. If it is good enough for the people, it is good enough for members of Congress. 2. Any drug company getting preference through donations by their lobbyists to U.S. House or Senate members, shall be terminated from the plan or submit to government take over. This has been a concern by some physicians, saying drug companies that are cozy with members of Congress will have their drugs forced on the system while other drugs needed will be shunned. So in other words no profit in the pockets of senators and house members from drug companies. Remember Murphy's Law. "If it can happen, it will happen." 3. There shall be NO age limits on giving medical help as long as the help will improve the life of the ailing citizen beyond a short period of time. 4. Everyone, rich and poor, must participate in the system. Cash from millionaires, such as Ted Kennedy, will not be accepted. He is getting his care for brain cancer from our existing system. He can get it now from the system his peers create for us. 5. No one will have to wait for more than two weeks to see a physician for diagnoses, or one month for surgery. "Waiting" shall not become part of a disease's ability to ravage a human body, as it is in Britain's health care plan. Everyone will have access to testing and imaging if a physician deems it is necessary. (Your webmaster almost died because three specialists never ordered an MRI over a six-month period, my getting it only after leaving their sphere of influence. I didn't ask for it. The new doctor did.) 6. Only registered and natural born citizens may participate in the plan. Illegal aliens can use the system as long as their government forwards the money for their care, since aliens are already helping their government by sending money home. Also health care to illegal aliens is not about health care, but about the Democrat party trying to get free votes. You want a fair health care system? Pull the politics from it, and instead feel sorry for citizens whose food is taken off the table by illegals. 7. Short term foreign visitors to the U.S. may use the system, such as tourists and students. Diplomats must have their countries pay into the system or go back home for health benefits. 8. Union members shall not be free of any tax on their employee benefits if other Americans must pay the same. Again, the health care system is not about getting votes for political officials or any party favors. Life and death are at stake for U.S. Citizens.. 9. If any of the above is not observed, then this health care system is not about health but about control over every American citizen's right to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness guaranteed by their Constitution. Any health care system that obstructs these rights must be struck down by the courts, those who knowingly created it brought to justice. When it comes to health, playing with someone's health care, along with their spouses and children, is the stuff made of revolutions.
