When you shop at Sears, you do more than support an old established American Company

We assume some of you have seen reports how Sears is treating its reservist employees, who are called up by the military. By law, we understand that businesses are required to hold jobs open and available for reservists when they return, but nothing more.

Usually, people take a big pay cut and sacrifice benefits as a result of being called up for military service to their country.

Sears, however, is instead voluntarily paying the difference in salaries and maintaining all benefits, including medical insurance and bonus programs for all called-up reservist employees for up to two years.

From this, it seems that Sears is an exemplary corporate citizen and should be recognized for its contribution to military families. We suggest you consider shopping at Sears to help them pay for their generous offering to employees who serve their country. But while there, why not find a manager and tell them why you're there buying products at Sears. This will provide the company with positive reinforcement it well deserves.

One Sears customer decided to check this rumor out before forwarding information to friends on the Internet, senting the following e-mail to the customer service department at Sears.

"I received the attached e-mail, and I would like to know if it is true. If it is, the Internet may have just become one very good source of advertisement for your store. I know I would go out of my way to buy products from Sears instead of another store for a like item even if it was cheaper at the other store."

Here was the response they received from Sears:

Dear Customer:

Thank you for contacting Sears.

The information is factual. We appreciate your positive feedback. Sears regards service to our country as one of greatest sacrifices our young men and women can make. We are happy to do our part to lessen the burden they bear at this time.
